Production & Technical Facilities
The Research & Production Complex «Photopribor« applies a wide spectrum of technologies providing up-to-date and high-quality production of special-purpose, civilian articles and consumer goods.
The production infrastructure is as follows:

1. Machining production:
- a milling section equipped with NC machines: machining of such parts as covers, levers, housings etc. with complicated profiles;
- a turning section equipped with NC machines: machining of such parts as rotary bodies of any form with overall dimensions of up to Ø400х1000 mm;
- a section for machining centers: machining of complicated case-type parts with overall dimensions of 600х600х600 mm;
- a section of coordinate-boring machines;
- finishing processing of case-type parts with overall dimensions of 60х600х600 mm along 3 axes with an accuracy of up to 0.002 mm;
- a grinding section: circular grinding of hardened steel with maximum dimensions of Ø150х1000 mm;
- flat grinding of parts with dimensions of up to 250х450 mm ;
- gear grinding by run-in method by a 0.3-2.5 module with gears number not less than 8;
- thread grinding: mechanical polishing of such parts as feed screws Ø5-100 mm, up to 500 mm long;
- a tooth-cutting section: machining of cylindrical straight-toothed and spiral wheels with the module from 0.3 to 1.5;
- a section of universal equipment: total machining of Ø1-500 mm parts, 300х600 mm plates;
- horizontal boring section: machining of frame welding structures with weight of up to 300 kg and overall dimensions of 1000х1000х1500 mm under conditions of small-batch production.
The machining production also includes a casting section with output capacity of 36.5 t of aluminum castings per year to produce blanks by die casting and casting in sand mold.
Die casting: max. blank weight is up to 2 kg; gravity dies casting - max. blank weight is up to 5 kg; casting in sand mold - max. blank weight is up to 60 kg. Max. overall dimensions: 1500х150х300 mm. Main materials – alloys АК7, АК9, АК12 |

2. Assembling
The following jobs are performed during assembly:
- preliminary assembly of individual components with adjustment of backlashes, clearances, torques and alignment of individual elements;
- folding of optical elements, turning and autocollimating centering of lenses to an accuracy of 0.005-0.01 mm;
- alignment of units, assemblies, including laser control channels;
- assembly, alignment and adjustment of optomechanical devices using sophisticated control-alignment outfit;
- assembly of gyros, including application of electron-beam welding;
- electrical mounting of electronic assemblies and units, their assembly and adjustment;
- manufacture of special-purpose cables (cables with increased flexibility, with connectors sealing);
- manufacture of coilers (transformers coils, toroidal transformers with the diameter of magnetic conductors equal to 5-100 mm);
- testing and monitoring of night vision devices.
After final assembly and mounting, the products are subjected to 100% tests.

Description of manufactured products:
- all types of lenses (convexo-convex, flat-convex, concavo-concave, flat-concave, menisci);
- prisms (rectangular, pentagonal prisms, trippel-prisms, Dove prisms, roof prisms, polyhedral prisms, etc.);
- plates (mirrors, light filters, protective glass);
- reticles (manufactured by etching method).
Accuracy characteristics of optical parts
Lenses: |
- diameter: 5-250 mm;
- thickness tolerance in the center: from ±0.01 to ±0.2 mm;
- surface form accuracy: N=1-3 rings at the diameter of 100 mm;
- tolerance for decentering: from 0.03 to 0.05 mm;
- antireflection coatings: two- or five layers applied by a vacuum method.

- overall dimensions: from 2 to 150 mm;
- angles manufacture precision: up to 30 sec of arc.;
- “roof“ angle manufacture accuracy: up to 1.5 sec of arc.;
- pyramid shape: up to 30 sec of arc.

- Overall dimensions: up to 250 mm;
- Wedging tolerance: up to 2 sec of arc.;
- surface form accuracy: N=0.5 – 2 rings at the diameter of 100 mm;
- coatings: mirror, multiplayer, based on zirconium and silicon oxide.

- diameter: 10-100 mm;
- minimum line width: 0.007 mm;
- maximum line width: 0.2 mm;
- accuracy between the elements: ±0.005 mm.

4. Galvanic and Lacquer Coatings Production
Galvanic coatings section
Maximum length of parts subject to coating: 1000 mm.
The following types of coating are applied:
- zinc plating
- nickel plating
- chromium plating
- phosphorus plating of steel
- chemical oxidation of steel and its alloys
- chemical oxidation of brass and copper alloys
- chemical passivation of stainless steel
- electric polishing of stainless steel
- coating by tin-bismuth alloy
- anode oxidation of aluminum alloys
- anode oxidation of copper alloys
- black nickel plating
- copper coating
Painting Section
Painting is made with cold and hot drying enamel and lacquers. |

5. Production for reprocessing of plastic and rubber
A wide range of parts of different complexity and shape are manufactured of plastic and rubber mixtures (bellows, collars, eye shields, etc.)
The following materials are reprocessed in the thermoplastic section: polystyrene and its co-polymers, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyamide and its co-polymers.
Minimum weight of the parts is 0.5 g, maximum weight of the parts is 1 kg
The following materials are reprocessed in the thermosetting plastic section: phenoplast, press-material
Minimum weight of the parts is 1 g, maximum weight of the parts is 2 kg |

6. Environmental test section
test for humidity resistance (humidity and spray irrigation), heat endurance (heat cameras +40ºС, +50ºС), for heat and cold resistance (cameras with temperatures of +120ºС, -50ºС) & rarefaction (0.1 atm).

7. Frame-stamping production
The facilities of the frame-stamping production provide parts fabrication by methods of punching, deep drawing, hot forging and assembly by welding.
Maximum dimensions of stamped parts:
- for drawing and molding operations: (250х500) mm.
- for chipping: (400х500) mm.
Technological facilities provide a wide spectrum of technological operations: chopping, perforation, cutting, notching, flanging, leveling, drawing, squeezing in the stamp, etc.
The following operations are provided in the welding section:
- welding of aluminum alloys, including microplasmous welding;
- ferrous metals welding on semiautomatic machines;
- ferrous metals welding on semiautomatic machines;
- contact welding.

8. Tool Production
The tool production features a wade range of equipment to manufacture:
- cold forming stamps=0.1-3mm, stamps dimensions=100х700х500 mm;
- hot-forged stamps;
- molds for casting parts made of non-ferrous alloys, for casting according to consumable patterns;
- press-molds for the fabrication of thermoplastic, thermosetting plaster, rubber parts with the dimensions of 800х800х600 mm;
- master plates, and turning, milling, control outfit;
- all kinds of special-purpose tools, meters (drills, cutters, mills, gauges, plugs, clips, etc.);
- press-molds for packing production, etc.;
- control-alignment devices and non-standard equipment;
- fabrication and repair of press-molds for the manufacture of gaskets for eggs, turf pots, bottle packing, etc.
The tool production includes a thermal section, where the following thermal processing jobs are performed: volumetric hardening, tempering and normalization of steel, stabilizing aging, hardening of tools in brines, cement hardening of steel, including stainless steel, tempering by high frequency current. |
